If your mouth is unhealthy, you also swallow the bacteria that are living in your mouth. These bacteria can infiltrate other parts of your body, and eventually make you sick.
Your Dentist Should Be Just as Revered as Your Physician
When your teeth are not properly cared for, they decay. This decaying tissue can cause an abscess in your mouth, which can spread infection and bacteria around to the rest of your mouth. Not only that, but if the bacteria and infection hit your bloodstream, it can spread around to your entire body, making you gravely ill.
It is important you know how bacteria and infection spread from the mouth to the rest of the body. Knowing this can help you see the importance of contact your dentist every six months for another checkup.
The more often your dentist sees you, the sooner they can catch anything that may be going wrong within your mouth. The earlier things are caught, the less it takes to treat them, and the more likely they are to not be lingering problems you have to face the rest of your life.
Your dentist and your doctor should be seeing you at least twice per year. You need to keep up with your exams, and your dentist needs to see any changes that may be occurring in your mouth. It is the best way for you to stay ahead of oral cancer, gingivitis, cavities, and even teeth that may be shifting out of place.
