Just because you brush your teeth doesn't mean you're doing it correctly. There is a specific way in which you should brush your teeth to make sure that they're truly clean. Fortunately, there are some ways you can know for sure if you're doing this right. How to Know You're Brushing Your Teeth CorrectlyThere are two main ways you can know if you're missing parts of your mouth when you're brushing your teeth. First, you'll see signs of plaque and tartar. Unfortunately, plaque doesn't have a color. Over time you'll notice that tartar is building up on your teeth though. This will cause your teeth to become yellow or brown in color. Secondly, you'll have inflamed gums or gingivitis. They'll bleed almost every time you brush your teeth. When you look at them, they'll look red, sore, and puffy. This is the result of plaque you haven't brushed away. Third, you'll notice that your teeth's enamel is growing thinner. Look at your teeth near the gum line to see if there's a little notch. This indicates poor brushing habits since your enamel is already the thinnest there. It's the first area to notice when you've brushed too hard or forcefully. When you have any of these signs, you know you're not brushing your teeth properly. You need to understand that you can't simply fix your brushing habits and trust that everything will be fine. This is because things like tartar must be professionally removed so you'll need to schedule an appointment with our office to have your teeth cleaned so that we can make sure you don't have any issues associated with incorrect brushing. This will help you get back on track with your oral hygiene. So, make sure you look for these signs and if you find them, contact our office today. |
