 Swimming is a great way to keep cool and to get all of the physical workouts that you need for the day. It is a great method for exercise, and it is one that provides those in hot climates to get the cooling effects that come from taking a dip. However, did you know that swimming can actually have effects on the teeth that you may not have known about. Usually, people do not think about their oral health when they are dipping into the pool or even going for a swim in the ocean. Changes with Oral Health While SwimmingWhen it comes to swimming, you don't need to remove any dentures or partials that you have, but it is important to use some extra adhesive as they can have a reduction in suction. You should remove any oral appliances and retainers that you have to use before going swimming, though. If you are a diver, then you have to consider something called tooth squeeze. This happens when the pressure inside the tooth are trying to match the pressure around you. This can break apart and crack teeth, remove fillings and crowns and it can be painful. This leaves the teeth brittle and sensitive which is not something you want. Chlorine is very strong, so strong that it is able to strip the outside of the teeth.
