Dentures
Woodland, CA

Man smiling about his new dentures from Beautiful Smiles in Woodland, CAWhile only a small part of your body, they have several essential everyday tasks. The teeth are responsible for biting and chewing your food. They control the flow of air when you speak. They are also a major component of a beautiful, confident smile. When you experience tooth loss, every function of your teeth and mouth is affected, as is your oral health and your quality of life. At Beautiful Smiles, we can restore missing teeth, and the functions of your mouth, with dentures.

Causes of Tooth Loss

There are several causes of tooth loss. One of the most common causes is gum disease. This condition occurs when oral bacteria irritate your gum tissue, leading to inflammation. The swollen tissue pulls away from your teeth, creating pockets. Bacteria fall into the pockets and attack your periodontal ligaments and your jawbone. Eventually, without treatment, the teeth become loose and fall out.

There are several other causes of tooth loss other than gum disease, including:
•  Facial trauma. Facial and oral trauma can occur as the result of an auto accident, a fall, a sports-related injury, or even a physical altercation.
•  Changes in hormones.
•  Osteoporosis.

What are Dentures?

Dentures have been around for hundreds of years as a way to replace missing teeth, although the dentures of today are vastly different than their earlier predecessors. They are much more comfortable, and much more natural looking in appearance. Dentures consist of acrylic resin teeth set into a removable, gum colored acrylic base. Created from digital impressions of your mouth, the base is designed to sit on your gums, which provide the support for your restoration, and is held in place by suction. Dentures can be made to replace an entire arch of teeth, or sections of missing teeth.

Full Dentures

Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Before impressions are taken, we first need to extract any unhealthy teeth that might still be remaining in the arch. Digital impressions are then taken, and sent to our in-house dental lab. The images are displayed on a computer monitor, and our technicians use specialized software to design custom dentures to fit your mouth and your needs. Once designed, the denture is milled.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are designed to replace sections of missing teeth while keeping your perfectly healthy teeth intact. After all, there is no reason to extract healthy teeth. Along with preventing the extraction of healthy teeth, a partial denture helps to keep those teeth from shifting out of their natural alignment. Just like full dentures, a partial denture consists of acrylic resin teeth set into a gum-colored, acrylic base. The base sits on your gums, which provide support for your restoration. Partials also have metal clasps, which attach to your healthy teeth, for additional support. These dentures are made similarly to full dentures. We take digital impressions of your mouth and our in-house dental lab designs and creates a custom restoration to fit perfectly in your mouth.

Implant Supported Dentures

Many people are replacing their missing teeth with dentures. Dentures are among the best options at Beautiful Smiles that individuals opt for. Snap-in dentures are the most preferred type used for missing teeth replacement. These denture types are also known as implant-supported dentures. The horseshoe shape is created to expose the palate for improved sensations and temperature.

Denture Benefits

Dentures offer several benefits:
•  The functions of your mouth are restored. You will be able to eat and speak normally again.
•  A youthful appearance is restored to your face, as dentures help to fill out your cheeks.
•  With your smile restored, you can regain your confidence.
